Dear Consul, My wife and I plan to visit Timor Leste in April essentially as tourists. I have had a long and sympathetic interest in the difficulties faced by Timor Leste, from the years of struggle for independence to the more recent and somewhat despicable actions of our government in trying to gain access to your country's fossil fuel reserves. I was lucky to meet with your President some 25 to 30 years ago, when we were both visiting Senator Joe Valentine, of the "Greens" in Canberra. I was then the Convenor of "The Peace Education Foundation", in Perth. I am writing to ask if you could put me in touch with persons or groups in Perth, familar with the current situation and issues in Timor Leste. Also if there are any particular individuals or groups in Timor Leste I could contact to explore if there are ways in which my/our particular skill sets may be of use in facilitating local community development. I should add that both I and my wife, are semi retired, have extensive teaching backgrounds, as well as some other career experience. Regards, Roland Bartholomeusz. Tel: 0408291798
